About Me.

Healing with nature lives close to my heart. I have been living the question in the company of horses. They took me back to the land and the experience of “interdenpen-dance” between humans, animals, plants and the land. A connection that often falls through the cracks of our busyness and increasing agitation.

Many years ago a health issue led me to Jeffrey Yuen and I began taking Chinese herbs. He would often ask me about my dreams. The question became intriguing as I realized I was dreaming not just about plants, animals and the land but perhaps with them. Maybe the artist in me! It was a time of discovery, a new relationship with my body as an ecosystem. Not only did it have it’s own intelligence, it was communicating with me. I was learning to listen to myself as nature. My health issue, which I was told was all in my head when I landed in the emergency room, quickly resolved. I imagine you have heard similar stories. From that moment on there was no turning back, I continued to see Jeffrey for years. Beyond health, through my embodied experience I was being introduced to a totally different world view, a place of co-creation in which I had agency and responsibilities. As the master that he is, Jeffrey would ask questions and gave my stories a place to land and be validated. There was no other place to be and grow in this re-imagining of myself.

From the beginning, I have felt horses were my teachers. I felt like with them I was learning to be the kind of person I wanted to be. I was learning something that I could not learn sitting in school. Being with horses offered me deep emotional connection,  the opportunity to grow my embodied confidence and be fully engaged with another living being that never judged me. It was like a dance, overtime, it became a practice. One day, my trainer said to me, “I just don’t know about you. Somedays you are absolutely brilliant and others, well, I don’t know what is going on with you…”. I answered, “I know, I know exactly what you mean, somedays it feels like I have somebody else’s body…”

Discovering somatic practices helped me realize I was disconnected from myself. Movement based expressive arts gave my body a voice. The more inner freedom I reclaimed, the freeer my movement, the more my connection with horses was expanding.  It was an exciting path but for years the unfolding of the potential I dreamed of was inconsistent despite all my best efforts, dedication and practice. What was going on?

I found answers that shifted my own inner limiting story, when I got involved with the work of Dr. Claire Zammit founder of the Woman Centered Coaching Institute. In her feminine approach to self-actualization, Dr. Zammit identified and mapped out the behavioral patterns of 21 fixed mindsets that keep woman stuck because they are invisible. These patterns are body-mind patterns that shape our relationship to ourselves, others and hold inherent constrictions and possibilities.

Knowing, understanding and observing this was a total game changer. I realized my inner glass ceiling to accessing the wisdom of nature connection I was seeking was held together by internalized dreams crafted in a western cultural mindset that insists on separating humans from nature. That offers a mechanistic view of the body and that favors hierachical power structures.

A contemporay theme is it not? What if the journey towards the happiness and love that comes from authentic relationships, starts by re-aligning our personal story with a wider universe? A universe that holds us and lives inside us. Bridging our inner dreams to our outer reality is becoming the Ecological Self. The presence of me and you that harmoniously aligns with the moment and transforms with life giving qualities in mind.

What people say about working with me…

I have been in recovery for the past 4½ months and I am completely honest when I say that “yoga days” are my favorite. When I wake up feeling irritation, discomfort or negative emotions, I know that when that hour comes I will find peacefulness and that time is enough to show me that anything is possible. I am not sure how I would have gone through all my negative emotions without Ms.  Andrée’s support.

The process of yoga has deeply improved how I breathe through different emotional situations. The tuning of my mind with my body has  created a positive  relationship between the two.

I did not  realize how connected my body and my emotions affected each other. This is a much needed practice to regain my desire to continue living on this earth.

Yoga has been by far the most beneficial group I have had in all my time in recovery. When I came here 4 months ago I was very angry, anxious and extremely uncomfortable in my own skin. I signed up for 2 classes a week and it instanstly became my favorite group. I’ve gotten more out of yoga class than i have from any book/worksheet.

I have learnt how to feel comfortable in my own skin. I have been able to safely deal with my triggers, cravings and drug dreams. I now feel more confident in my recovery.
